Born on 7 January 1982 in Ankara. On 2005, she graduatet from Bilkent University Graphic Design Department with an MFA degree by her thesis titled “Spectral Images: Dispossesed Family Photographs circulating in Antique Markets in Turkey”. On 2007, she completed her second master’s degree (MA) by her short film project named “Ephemera: A Short Film Project about Dying Photographs”. Forget Me Not / Unutma, that is started as a thesis project, is her first film which is realized with a professional crew. Since 2004, she works with the European Film Festival Team. Pelin, who has several writings and essays on visual culture and film theory, is now both an teaching assistant and a Phd student at Bilkent University. She continues her interest on critical literature on photography by making researches on “post-mortem photographs and death” for her doctoral thesis. Nowadays she is dreaming of writing a story for a new film.

About the camera operator: Charlie Wupperman Charlie is almost 30 years old. Charlie was born in Germany. Charlie is half German, half Swedish. Charlie did a lot of internships in the German film industry (cooking lots of coffee). Charlie worked in the camera department and the Arri film lab. About the main actor: Zafer Diper Zafer Diper was born in 1946. He started playing in theaters in 1963 at the Youth Branch of People’s Republican Party in Beşiktaş; and he continued acting while he wa in high school, University and Community Center. Some of the plays he directed – played in during this time are Cohoir of the City [Şehrin Korosu], that he wrote, Gitgel Wardrope [Gitgel Dolap], While the Moon is Rising [Ay Doğarken], Zoo [Hayvanat Bahçesi], Sand Chest [Kum Sandığı], Man with a Flower in his Mouth [Ağzı Çiçekli Adam], Outside the Doors [Kapıların Dışında], Woyzeck. For some time, he focused on short films, scenario and story writing motivated by desire in film making, which developed by Sinematek. Later on, he took a role in the Compradore Play at the Public Theatre. He was one of the founding members of the Ortaoyuncular [players of a theatrical genre once popular in Turkey] in 1978 and played the role of Shah thre hundred and seventy five time in the play called They Shoot the Shahs, too [Şahları da Vururlar]. In November 1981, he founded the Our Theatre [Bizim Tiyatro] with a perception and approach that can be summarized by the content of “being able to produce artistic activities with a social-dialectic approach” within Üsküdar Sunar Theatre. Plays, Children’s Play, Cultural – Artistic Activities were dealt with within above mentioned framework. After he had to leave the Sunar Theatre at which he continued his activities for six years, his life turned into a wanderer’s life and he spent his time in such places: AST, Cultural and Art Center in Kadıköy, Baro Han (Tünel), Istanbul Technical University Mining Engineering (G. Lecture Theatre), Küçük Sahne [Little Stage], Capitol Hall, Aksanat, Muammer Karaca Theatre (Beyoğlu) and Barış Manço Culture Center in Kadıköy. Some of the TV serials and films in which Zafer Diper played in addition to theatres: Sizin Dersane [Your Classroom] (1979 yılı), Songül, Töre [Customs], Gülpare [Rose Piece], Paramparça Aşklar [Shattered Loves], Polis [Police], Bir Göçmen Kuştu O [He was a Migratory Bird]…

About the composer: Gisela Garcia Brugada Born on 13 February 1973 in Barcelona. On 1994 and 2000 she graduated in Music Education and in Cultural and Social Anthropology from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. After working as a music teacher for many years, she decided to pursue her music studies and moved to the United States to study at Berklee College of Music. She obtained her degree in Film Scoring in December 2005. She lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked as a composer and studio assistant. In September 2007 she moved back to Barcelona where she continues her film scoring and music career. About the cast: Begüm Güroğlu Hi Everyone, I am Begum Guroglu, you may know me as “Leyla”… I was born on the 8th of June in 1985 in Ankara, Turkey. I finished primary, secondary and high school in TED Ankara College. I studied Communication and Design in Bilkent University between the years 2002 and 2006. After University, I worked f or MAG Magazine as a customer representative for four months. I had always been dreaming of a post-graduate education in London, therefore in 2007 I came to London for masters degree on Marketing in Brunel University. “Forget Me Not” Dairy

This film started as a thesis project, finished after nearly years from the graduation of the director.
The shootings were realized in İstanbul,

in 12 different locations:

Arnavutköy (Leyla’s home), Çukurcuma (the antique store), Nişantaşı (Home of Süheyla), Üsküdar (Bülbülderesi Graveyard), Ortaköy (the antique store), Ortaköy (trash), Sütlüce (Valide Sultan Bridge), Akatlar (Waste-Paper collecting store), Galata (efect shootings), The walk of the waste-paper gatherer: Feriköy, Eyüp, many streets …

The story has 7 characters:

Leyla, Süheyla, Young Koper and the first visitor is acted by students. Second visitor is the grand-aunt of the director. Mr. Koper Bey and Waste-paper gatherer Tacettin Efendi is professional actors…

During the film shooting no sound is recorded. All the sounds are artificially created in the studio during the post-production.

The garbages already started to stink because of the hot. Tacettin Efendi who is about 40 years old does not care about this scent everyone abstains and avoids to smell. He was earning his bread from bins. He was seeking after what people discarded. He constituted the first ring of the chain appreciating those were factionalized. He was also finding his job fascinating. But, he was having difficulties in explaining his job to those who asked what he does to earn money. His job is not something included in the job descriptions. Some people called him “garbageman”. However, he had not any business with the garbages. His business was “escapers” among the garbages. He had not any uniform, health insurance and right of strike. He goes to near the wastes before the garbagemen. In addition, the business carried out by Tacettin Efendi was concerned neither by state nor street-dwellers. The system he worked for was for the collectors. They called him “junkman” and sometime “paper collector” but these adjectives are unfair to so much of objects he collected except the junks and papers. He probably does not live enough to list the things he took from bins. Sometimes, he was also being surprised by what he found. Some people were thinking that he is a homeless “almsman” searching for food in the bins. Briefly, he had not any profession corresponded in the dictionary prepared by Turkish Language Agency. He was a part of the system adding value to what are discarded by the city and even turn them into the popular, rare objects of desire. The first stage of collecting system attributing value in public to the personal… When he was thinking about them, he was attaching importance to what he does and calling himself “culture hunter”. On the other hand, while he was searching the bins of others, he was thinking that he could not find any place in the society and feeling himself indifferent to the garbages that he has allocated, selected, investigated, searched and touched. The garbage can he stopped by that day was pretty crowded. It was apparent that a late spring cleaning was done. He firstly allocated such recyclable materials as newspapers, magazines, papers, bottles and cans. He was delivering them to SEKA for the recycling and receiving money for that per kilo. While he was dealing with these materials, his hunter eyes caught black and white photos from 50-60 years ago at least on the ground. Now, he cheered up. In a moment, he changed back to his identity of culture hunter. He carefully collected the photos one by one. What kind of value do they have? A seller from the junk market could buy all of them for a few cents and undersell some of them.
